Promise Yourself - Christian D. Larson

“Promise Yourself
To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.
To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”

Christian D. Larson, Your Forces and How to Use Them

'Eye'

"Look me in the eye.Look me in the eyes and say it!"
The eye is an organ of vision; it's like a collection of photographs that mark each and every blink of an eye,
every moment and emotion is captured with a blink,

The eyes perceive the dangers of love and danger from a distance,
They detect the radiant energy of their loved ones during the day stalked by the cloudy presence of the evil as the day turns into night.

Your eyes are the lenses to your soul,
You see and feel through your eyes and believe all the hopes and the lies with them.

So eyes that look you straight into the eyes, are eyes that want to be believed or to believe.
"Look into my eyes, and say that you love me"
"No
"Because of all things, your eyes are capable of creating the greatest illusion of all"

My Mother and I by Kiki F.

My Mother and I

In one ear and out of the other,
That's what it's like with my mother,
She talks and talks,
But I'm like cheese and she's the chalk,

Will it always be this way?

Or will there be a day,
When my mother and I,
See eye to eye

It's not nice at all,
Being made to feel very small,
But that's what it's like with,
My mother and I,

We just don't see eye to eye.

It gets tiring after a while,
Faking the smiles and the "I love you's",
It's not something you get used to,
But something that becomes a part of you.

It's just my mother and I,
We don't see eye to eye

Thando Hopa: South African Model on a mission

Thando Hopa

The beautiful young South African model is on a mission;not only to breakthrough the modelling industry, but to fight for discrimination against albinism,in Africa. Albinos in Africa are known to be at risk of physical violence or even worse, death.

What is Albinism?
Albinism is a genetic condition which causes a person not to have much pigment in their hair, eyes and skin (making them seem very pale).Because their bodies do not make enough melanin.

People with this genetic disorder are most likely to suffer from sunburn and are extremely sensitive to light (which results in some of them being blind).

There are notions in Africa that say that albino's have special healing powers, which is why they are at risk of being kidnapped or killed.

"I want practical help for those with albinism so they get help buying sun cream and help with their eyesight."- says Thando

Love yourself first

I Been Drinking....WATERMELON ;)

"I been drinking watermelon" - Beyonce ,Drunk in Love (featuring Jay Z)

Who said fruits were boring?
Spice up your fruit life with a bodacious watermelon split into two to create a healthy refreshing drink for a hot summers day (whenever you choose to consume it, is purely up to you!)

 Method:
  • Cut a watermelon into two halves, scooping the sweet, juicy pink interior flesh out of it's hard case , then proceed to blend into liquid form. Then pour pack into the Watermelon case
  •  Use Sugar (or honey) to encrust the edges of the watermelon
  • Add cute straw to drink out of (....Or Nah)
  • Garnish drink with mint/strawberry/slice of lemon (Optional)
Enjoy! Feel welcome to comment your own adaptation of this reciple -NM

Perfection is everywhere - Okakura Kakuzo

Perfection is truly everywhere, only once we learn to recognize it.

But how do you recognize perfection?

First and foremost , isolate yourself from society's perception of 'perfection' and define perfection for yourself.

Create your own mental dictionary of all things you find perfect, without the influence from anyone but your own.

Looking through all the definitions I can possibly find online, the words 'all','absolute' and 'best' tends to come up quite often. I choose to disagree with the given definition that perfection is :having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.

My idea of perfection is not necessarily something that can be defined or eloquently explained for it is about the the sensation it brings when you acknowledge it. Your perception of perfection is completely dependent on YOU.

Perfection is never ending, it's everywhere and I know it because i acknowledge what perfect means to me as an individual.

As people of colour the melanin that we contain, makes us close companions of the sun as our melanocytes never cease to respond to the sun, so why not embrace the darkness of our skin, as it is apart of our who we are.
