Thando Hopa: South African Model on a mission

Thando Hopa

The beautiful young South African model is on a mission;not only to breakthrough the modelling industry, but to fight for discrimination against albinism,in Africa. Albinos in Africa are known to be at risk of physical violence or even worse, death.

What is Albinism?
Albinism is a genetic condition which causes a person not to have much pigment in their hair, eyes and skin (making them seem very pale).Because their bodies do not make enough melanin.

People with this genetic disorder are most likely to suffer from sunburn and are extremely sensitive to light (which results in some of them being blind).

There are notions in Africa that say that albino's have special healing powers, which is why they are at risk of being kidnapped or killed.

"I want practical help for those with albinism so they get help buying sun cream and help with their eyesight."- says Thando
